Mother & Daughter

It was my mother’s birthday this week and while she lives in New York I live in Maryland. This usually makes birthdays a virtual affair. I call her or she calls me or now it seems we just text one another. But this photograph, it’s printed- it’s on my desk at work. It’s tangible. I can experience touching it, feeling its weight in my hands, I can feel its permanence and legacy years later. It hasn’t been preserved well but I still have it.

Mothers and daughters have a special connection and when I look at this image I can see the happiness and love. Celebrating your relationship in portraits? What better experience is there?
